Removal (Prelude)
- Remove steering shaft connector bottom bolt. Pull connector up off pinion shaft. Raise vehicle and remove front wheels. Remove cotter pins and ball joint nuts. Using ball joint remover, remove tie rod ends from steering knuckles.
- Remove crossmember. Disconnect shift rod and extension from manual transmission. On automatic transmission models, remove shift cable guide from floor and pull shift cable down by hand.
- Remove exhaust manifold-to-header pipe nuts and header pipe bracket nuts. Push rack to extreme right (simulate a left turn) and remove gearbox brackets.
- Lower the gearbox enough so pinion shaft end comes out frame hole. Rotate gearbox forward until pinion shaft points rearward. Slide gearbox right until left tie rod clears exhaust pipe. Remove through left side of vehicle.
