Wheel Bearing

To check wheel bearing for excessive wear, raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Secure brake rotor using 2 wheel nuts. Compress caliper piston to free disc. Mount dial indicator to axle hub. See Fig 1. Grasp brake rotor, applying force in and out. If measurement exceeds .03" (.8 mm), replace bearing. See WHEEL BEARING & HUB.
