Circuit Description

When ignition is first turned on, IGNITION 1 voltages is applied from IG-COIL meter fuse to AIR BAG warning lamp which is connected to AIR BAG indicator terminal No. 7. AIR BAG fuse applies system voltage to IGNITION 1 input, terminal 8. SDM responds by flashing AIR BAG warning lamp 7 times to indicate SIR system is free from malfunctions. When diagnostic request line is jumpered to ground, SDM will flash AIR BAG warning lamp to indicate DTCs that are present.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to specific step numbers on diagnostic chart and may skip step numbers. No information has been left out. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM .

2) This test checks if open is in SDM circuitry or in wiring.
