Diagnostic Aids
Diagnosing DTCs in correct order is important. Failure to diagnose DTCs in order specified may result in extended diagnostic time, incorrect diagnosis and incorrect part replacement.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to specific step numbers on diagnostic chart and may skip step numbers. No information has been left out. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM

- 1) AIR BAG warning lamp should flash 7 times after ignition is first turned on.
- 2) AIR BAG warning lamp indicates improper operation. This test differentiates a warning lamp stays on condition from a warning lamp does not come on condition.
- 3) AIR BAG warning lamp should turn off after flashing 7 times.
- 4) This test checks if SDM is flashing DTC 12.
- 6) This test checks for proper operation of serial data line.
- 7) This test identifies stored DTCs and whether they are current or history.
- 8) This test checks for proper operation of serial data line. It also identifies any stored history DTC.
