Diagnostic Test

  1. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect proportioning valve shuttle switch electrical connector. Check continuity between proportioning valve shuttle switch terminals. If continuity exists, go to step 8). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Check continuity between proportioning valve shuttle switch terminals with brake pedal pressed firmly. If continuity exists, go to step 8). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect EBCM connector C1. Remove IG-COIL METER (15-amp) fuse. Measure resistance between ground and EBCM harness connector C1 terminal D7. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 7).
  5. Reinstall IG-COIL METER (15-amp) fuse. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and EBCM harness connector C1 terminal D7. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 9).
  6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect EBCM connector and proportioning valve connector. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition on. Drive vehicle at 6 MPH for 5 seconds. Stop vehicle and check for DTCs. If DTC C1285 is reset, go to step 10). If DTC C1285 is not reset, go to step 11).
  7. Release parking brake. Disconnect Diode #2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Measure resistance between ground and EBCM connector C1 terminal D7. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 12). If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to step 13).
  8. Diagnose base braking system for loss of pressure. If base braking system is okay, replace proportioning valve shuttle switch. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  9. Replace ABS resistor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  10. Replace EBCM. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  11. Malfunction is intermittent or not present at this time. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  12. Repair short to ground in Purple/White wire between Diode #2 and EBCM connector C1 terminal D7. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  13. Replace Diode #2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
