Diagnostic Test

  1. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Drive vehicle at 6 MPH for 5 seconds. Stop vehicle and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 5 seconds, then repeat. Using scan tool, check for stored DTCs. If DTCs are set, go to appropriate DTC diagnostic test. If no other DTCs are set, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Deplete vacuum booster reserve by pressing brake pedal several times, until firm. Re-apply firm pressure on brake pedal and hold. Using scan tool, select MANUAL CONTROL. Select REAR MOTOR RELEASE. If brake pedal fell during MOTOR RELEASE, go to next step. If brake pedal did not fall during MOTOR RELEASE, go to step 5).
  4. Keep firm brake pedal pressure. Using scan tool, select REAR MOTOR APPLY. If brake pedal rose when motor was applied, go to step 8). If pedal did not rise when motor was applied, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, perform GEAR TENSION RELIEF. Remove motor pack from hydraulic modulator. Check if the rear channel gear on the motor pack is stripped. The rear channel gear is in the middle of the motor pack. If the gear is stripped, go to step 9). If the gear is not stripped, go to next step.
  6. Check the rear channel gear on hydraulic modulator is stripped. If the gear is stripped, go to step 10). If gear is not stripped, go to next step.
  7. Rotate rear channel gear on hydraulic modulator by hand. If the gear free spins (no lock-to-lock after several rotations), go to step 11). If gear does not free spin, go to step 12).
  8. Drive vehicle at 6 MPH for 5 seconds. Stop vehicle and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 5 seconds, then repeat. Using scan tool, check for stored DTCs. If DTC C1251 is reset, go to step 5). If DTC C1251 is not reset, go to step 13).
  9. Replace motor pack. Go to step 14).
  10. Replace rear hydraulic modulator gear. Go to step 14).
  11. Replace hydraulic modulator assembly. Go to step 14).
  12. Replace EBCM. Go to step 14).
  13. Malfunction is intermittent or not present at this time. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  14. After repairs are made, perform RE-HOME TEST using scan tool. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
