Diagnostic Test

  1. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install scan tool. Using scan tool, check for stored DTCs. If DTC C1264 is stored, go to appropriate DTC diagnostic test. If DTC C1264 is not stored, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Deplete vacuum booster reserve by pressing brake pedal several times, until firm. Re-apply firm pressure on brake pedal and hold. Using scan tool, select MANUAL CONTROL. Select REAR MOTOR RELEASE. Try to spin rear wheels. If rear wheels spin, go to next step. If rear wheels do not spin, go to step 6).
  4. Keep firm brake pedal pressure. Using scan tool, select REAR MOTOR APPLY. Try to spin rear wheels. If rear wheels spin, go to next step. If rear wheels do not spin, go to step 6).
  5. Drive vehicle at 6 MPH for 5 seconds. Stop vehicle and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 5 seconds, then repeat. Using scan tool, check for stored DTCs. If DTC C1251 is reset, go to step 6). If DTC C1251 is not reset, go to step 13).
  6. Using scan tool, perform GEAR TENSION RELIEF. Remove motor pack from hydraulic modulator. Check if the rear channel gear on the motor pack is stripped. The rear channel gear is the one furthest forward when the motor pack is installed in vehicle. If the gear is stripped, go to step 9). If the gear is not stripped, go to next step.
  7. Check if the rear channel gear on the hydraulic modulator is stripped. The rear hydraulic modulator is the furthest forward when installed on vehicle. If the gear is stripped, go to step 10). If the gear is not stripped, go to next step.
  8. Rotate rear channel gear on the hydraulic modulator by hand. If the gear spins freely (no lock-to-lock after several rotations), go to step 11). If the gear does not spin freely (lock-to-lock after several rotations), go to step 12).
  9. Replace motor pack. Go to step 14).
  10. Replace rear hydraulic modulator gear. Go to step 14).
  11. Replace hydraulic modulator assembly. Go to step 14).
  12. Replace EBCM. Go to step 14).
  13. Malfunction is intermittent or not present at this time. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  14. After repairs are made, perform RE-HOME TEST using scan tool. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
