Diagnostic Test

  1. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect right front WSS. Check continuity between WSS terminal "A" and ground. If continuity exists, go to step 13). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect right front WSS directly at WSS. Measure resistance between WSS terminals "A" and "B". If resistance is 920-1220 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 920-1220 ohms, go to step 13).
  4. Disconnect EBCM connector C1. Check continuity between WSS harness connector terminals. If continuity exists, go to step 14). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Check continuity between ground and WSS harness connector terminal "A" (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to step 16). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  6. Check continuity between ground and WSS harness connector terminal "B" (White wire). If continuity exists, go to step 15). If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and WSS harness connector terminal "B" (White wire). If less than 2 volts exist, go to next step. If more than 2 volts exist, go to step 18).
  8. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and WSS harness connector terminal "A" (Black wire). If less than 2 volts exist, go to next step. If more than 2 volts exist, go to step 17).
  9. Measure resistance between WSS harness connector terminal "A" (Black wire) and EBCM connector C1 terminal C14. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 2 ohms, go to step 20).
  10. Measure resistance between WSS harness connector terminal "B" (White wire) and EBCM connector C1 terminal C13. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 19).
  11. Inspect jumper harness connector, EBCM connector C1 and WSS connector for poor contact, corrosion or damage. Repair as necessary. Go to step 12).
  12. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect EBCM and right front WSS. Turn ignition on. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition on. Check for stored DTCs. If DTC C1235 resets, go to step 22). If DTC C1235 does not reset, go to step 21).
  13. Replace right front WSS. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  14. Repair short between White-Yellow and Black-Yellow/Black wires between WSS and EBCM. If short is in WSS jumper harness, replace jumper harness. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  15. Repair short to ground in White-Yellow wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C10. If the short is in the Black wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  16. Repair short to ground in Black-Yellow/Black wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C14. If the short is in the Black wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  17. Repair short to power in Black-Yellow/Black wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C14. If the short is in the Black wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  18. Repair short to power in White-Yellow wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C13. If the short is in the White wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  19. Repair open in White-Yellow wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C13. If the short is in the White wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  20. Repair open in Black-Yellow/Black wire between WSS and EBCM connector C1 terminal C13. If the short is in the Black wire in the jumper harness, replace jumper harness (DO NOT repair). Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  21. Malfunction is intermittent or not present at this time. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . 22 Check vehicle harness for possible short to ground, short to power or open. Inspect EBCM connectors for poor terminal contact. If no problems were found, replace EBCM. Go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
