Installation (8-Valve)

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate components with engine oil before installing.
    CAUTION: Intake and exhaust rocker shafts are different and must be installed in original location. To identify rocker shafts measure stepped ends of rocker shafts. See Figure. Intake rocker shaft stepped end dimension is .55" (14 mm). Exhaust rocker shaft stepped end dimension is .59" (15 mm).
  2. Install intake rocker arm shaft with stepped side toward camshaft sprocket. Install exhaust rocker arm shaft with stepped side toward distributor. See Fig 1.
  3. Tighten rocker arm shaft retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure.
  4. Adjust valve clearance. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
