Installation (8-Valve)

  1. Install intake and exhaust manifolds to head before installing head to block. Tighten intake and exhaust manifold bolts and nuts at the same time to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate cylinder head bolts with engine oil before installing. Tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence during 3-4 passes to specification. See Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Ensure timing marks are in correct alignment. See Figure. Adjust valve clearance. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Before installing fuel supply line on throttle body, apply a thin coat of engine oil on "O" ring. Adjust all control cables. Refill cooling system.
