Master Cylinder: Reassembly

  1. Coat all parts with clean brake fluid or brake assembly lube. Install NEW piston cups on pistons. Install secondary piston return spring, return spring seat and secondary piston in cylinder bore. Install primary piston in cylinder bore. See Fig 1 .
  2. Install sealing rings on piston stopper, and install stopper in cylinder bore. Depress primary piston and install piston stopper circlip in cylinder. Press primary piston into bore until seated.
  3. Install and tighten secondary stopper bolt in bottom of cylinder. Install reservoir on master cylinder using NEW grommets coated with clean brake fluid. Bench-bleed master cylinder before installing in vehicle. Bleed entire brake system after installation. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .

To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure using NEW rubber parts. See Figure . Lubricate all components with clean brake fluid. Bench-bleed master cylinder before installing in vehicle. Bleed entire brake system after installation. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .
