Horn Pad Switch Test
- Ensure stop/horn fuse is good by operating stop lights. Connect a fused jumper wire between horn relay connector terminals No. 2 (Green wire) and No. 4 (Green/Black wire). If horn sounds, remove fused jumper wire and go to next step. If horn does not sound, ensure horn operates and Green/Black wire between horn and horn relay is okay and Black ground wire from horn is okay.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe horn relay connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Green wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Depress horn switch and measure resistance. If resistance is greater than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one ohm, connect a test light from horn relay connector terminal No. 1 (Green wire) to ground. If test light lights, replace horn relay. If test light does not light, repair open in Green wire between horn relay connector terminal No. 1 and terminal No. 2, and fuse block.
- Locate combination switch harness 20-pin connector under instrument panel, near steering column. Using a DVOM, backprobe 20-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Blue/Green wire) to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Depress horn switch and measure resistance. If resistance is less than one ohm, repair open in Blue/Green wire between 20-pin connector and horn relay connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is greater than one ohm, check for an open between 20-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Blue/Green wire) and horn switch Black wire. If no open is found, replace horn switch.
