Upper Control Arm: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Use floor jack to support axle assembly. Disconnect ball joint mount from axle assembly. Remove bolts and nuts holding upper control arm to body. Remove upper control arm. See Figure.
  2. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from upper control arm ball joint. Using a 2 jaw gear puller, separate ball joint from mounting bracket. Remove ball joint dust seal retainer and dust seal.
