Manual Bleeding

  1. Clean master cylinder cap and surrounding area, then remove cap. Fill master cylinder and install cap. Have an assistant slowly depress brake pedal and hold. Loosen master cylinder brake line fitting to purge air from master cylinder bore.
  2. Tighten brake line fitting and then release brake pedal slowly. Wait 15 seconds and repeat procedure, including 15 second wait, until air is removed. Repeat this operation with each brake line at master cylinder. If brake pedal is firm and not spongy, bleeding is complete. If brake pedal is spongy go to next step and bleed each wheel in sequence.
  3. Install clear vinyl bleeder hose onto first wheel bleeder screw to be serviced. See BRAKE LINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE  table. Place other end of hose in clean, transparent container. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid so end of hose is submerged in fluid. Open bleeder screw and slowly depress brake pedal and hold.
  4. Close bleeder screw, and release pedal. Gently pump pedal several times to push air toward wheel calipers/cylinders. Repeat procedure until flow of brake fluid is clear and bubble free. Proceed to next bleeder screw. See BRAKE LINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE  table. Add brake fluid to master cylinder after bleeding all wheels.
