Ignition Switch & Lock Cylinder R & I: Installation

  1. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Align ignition switch/column lock housing with oblong hole in steering shaft. See Figure . Ensure ignition switch/column lock hub is in oblong hole. Tighten ignition switch shear bolts until bolt heads break off.
  2. Check ignition switch and column lock mechanism operation. Install steering column. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten steering shaft joint bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N.m) and steering column bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 N.m).
