Removal (1.8L)

  1. Remove upper intake manifold. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove fuel pipe bracket bolt. Remove EGR pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove EGR valve from intake manifold.
  2. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Cover fuel lines with shop towel, and disconnect fuel return and supply lines. Remove fuel injector electrical connectors.
  3. Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum line from vacuum switching valve on lower intake manifold. Remove oil cooler pipe bolt. Remove lower intake manifold bolts/nuts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket. See Figure .
