Gauge Indicates More Than Actual Pressure

  1. Unplug oil pressure sender connector. If gauge indicates zero psi, replace oil pressure sender. If gauge indicates more than zero psi, unplug 10-pin instrument panel cluster connector. Using a DVOM, check resistance between terminal No. 10 (Blue wire) and ground.
  2. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in Blue wire between instrument panel cluster and oil pressure sender. If resistance is infinite, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks and poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace oil pressure gauge.
