Fuel Gauge Indicates "F" At All Times

  1. Unplug fuel gauge sending unit connector located under rear seat. Turn ignition on. If fuel gauge does not indicates "E", replace fuel gauge sending unit.
  2. If fuel gauge still indicates "F", unplug 10-pin (Gray) instrument panel cluster assembly connector located behind instrument panel cluster assembly. Using a DVOM, check resistance between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Red wire; Pink wire after splice) to fuel gauge sender unit connector terminal No. 2.
  3. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, repair open in Red/Yellow wire; Pink wire after splice) between instrument cluster connector and fuel gauge sender unit. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks and poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge.
