Sun Roof Is Inoperative In Any Or All Switch Positions
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Backprobe accessory power relay connector with a test light from terminal No. 3 (Red/Blue wire) to ground. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, backprobe audio alarm module connector terminal No. 9 (Blue wire). If test light does not glow, replace audio alarm module. If test light glows, check for open in Red/Blue wire between junction block 3 and audio alarm module. If okay, replace junction block 3.
- Connect a test light to positive battery terminal and backprobe accessory power relay connector terminal No. 2 (White/Black wire). If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in White/Black wire between accessory power relay and chassis ground (behind left kick panel).
- Using a DVOM, backprobe accessory power relay connector between terminal No. 1 (White/Red wire) and ground. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in White/Red wire between junction block 1 and accessory power relay. If okay, replace junction block 1. If more than 10 volts are present, backprobe junction block 1, connector C7, terminal No. 12 (Black wire) and measure voltage. If more than are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Black wire between junction block 1 and accessory power relay. If okay, replace accessory power relay.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof control module connector between terminal No. 6 (Black wire) and ground. If more than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Black wire between junction block 1 and sun roof control module. If okay, replace junction block 1.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof control module connector, between terminal No. 12 (White/Black wire) and battery voltage. If less than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts are present, backprobe sun roof switch connector, between terminal No. 4 (White/Black wire) and battery voltage. If more than 10 volts are present, go to step 7). If less than 10 volts are present, repair White/Black wire between splice junction S346 (in roof harness approximately 3 inches from dome light connector lead). See Figure .
- Using a DVOM, backprobe junction block 1 connector C5 between terminal No. 15 and battery voltage. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in White/Black wire between junction block 1 and junction connector 1. If okay, replace junction connector 1. If more than 10 volts are present check for open in White/Black wire between sun roof control module and junction block 1. If okay, replace junction block 1.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect sun roof control module connector. Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C1 between terminal No. 4 (Red/Blue wire) and battery voltage. If more than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, repair open in White/Black wire between sun roof actuator and splice junction S306 (in roof harness approximately 5 inches from dome light connector lead). See Figure .
- If sun roof is tilted open, go to step 14). If sun roof is slid open, go to step 20). If sun roof is closed, connect a test light to positive battery terminal. Probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire). If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in Red/Yellow wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch. If okay, replace sun roof switch.
- Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 8 (Pink wire) and press sun roof switch to slide open position. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in Pink wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch. If okay, replace sun roof switch.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 10 (Green/White wire). If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in Green/White wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 4 (Red/Blue wire). If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, check for short to ground in Red/Blue wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof actuator.
- Reconnect sun roof control module connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C2 between terminal No. 1 and ground. Press sun roof switch to slide open position and measure voltage. If more than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Black wire between sun roof actuator and sun roof control module. If okay, replace sun roof control module.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector between terminals No. 1 (Green/White wire) and No. 3 (Red wire). Measure voltage while pressing sun roof switch to slide open position. If more than 10 volts are present, replace sun roof actuator. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Red wire between sun roof actuator and sun roof control module. If okay, replace sun roof control module.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe control module connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire). If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, check for short to ground in Red/Yellow wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 9 (Red/White wire) and press sun roof switch to tilt down position. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for short to ground in RED/Yellow wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch. If okay, replace sun roof switch.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 10 (Green/White wire). If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, check for short to ground in Green/White wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof actuator.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, probe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 4 (Red/Blue wire). If test light does not glow go to next step. If test light glows, check for short to ground in Red/Blue wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof actuator.
- Reconnect sun roof control module connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C2, between terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and ground. Press sun roof switch to tilt down position while measuring voltage. If more than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Black wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof control module.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C2, between terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Red wire). Measure voltage while pressing sun roof switch to tilt down position. If more than 10 volts are present, replace sun roof actuator. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Red wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. if okay, replace sun roof control module.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, backprobe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 8 (Pink wire). If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, check for short to ground in Pink wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch. If okay, replace sun roof switch.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, backprobe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 7 (Green/Yellow wire). Observe test light while pressing sun roof switch to slide close position. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, Check for open in Green/Yellow wire between sun roof control module and sun roof switch. If okay, replace sun roof switch assembly.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, backprobe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 10 (Green/White wire). If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in Green/White wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof actuator.
- Using a test light connected to positive battery terminal, backprobe sun roof control module connector terminal No. 4 (Red/Blue wire). If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in Blue/Red wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof actuator.
- Reconnect sun roof control module connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C2, between terminal No. 3 (Red wire) and ground. Press sun roof switch to slide close position and measure voltage. If more than 10 volts are present, go to next step. If less than 10 volts are present, Check for open in Red wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof control module.
- Using a DVOM, backprobe sun roof actuator connector C2, between terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Red wire). Measure voltage while pressing sun roof switch to slide close position. If more than 10 volts are present, replace sun roof actuator. If less than 10 volts are present, check for open in Black wire between sun roof control module and sun roof actuator. If okay, replace sun roof control module.
