Removal (Storm & Storm GSi)
- Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Disable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM
.WARNING: When moving or carrying air bag module, ensure outward side (pad surface area) is away from you. DO NOT store air bag module upside-down. Accidental deployment could cause serious injury. Store air bag module with pad surface upward and away from work area. DO NOT disassemble or tamper with air bag module assembly.
- Ensure front wheels face straight ahead. From behind steering wheel, remove screws attaching air bag module assembly to steering wheel. See Figure . Disconnect wires, and remove air bag module. Store assembly with pad surface upward.
- Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Mark steering wheel and shaft for reassembly reference. Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel.
