Wheel Bearing & Hub: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel(s) and free-wheeling hub (if equipped). Disconnect brake line from disc brake caliper. Remove caliper from steering knuckle.
  2. Remove brake disc. If disc cannot be removed by hand, install two 8-mm bolts into threaded holes. Remove wheel bearing lock plate. Using Socket (J-37763 ), remove wheel bearing.
  3. Remove wheel bearing lock washer. Remove wheel hub, bearings and oil seals as an assembly. If wheel hub cannot be removed by hand, use slide hammer and Adapter (J-37781 ). Remove wheel bearing oil seal and snap ring.
