Wheel Bearing
Tracker 4WD has non-serviceable sealed cartridge bearings. Tracker 2WD has serviceable non-sealed bearings. Wheel bearings are not adjustable. To check wheel bearing for excessive wear, raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Secure brake disc using 2 wheel nuts. Compress caliper piston to free disc. Mount dial indicator to axle hub. See Fig 1 . Grasp brake disc, applying force in and out. If measurement exceeds .002" (.05 mm), replace bearing.
On Tracker 4WD, cartridge bearings are preloaded. On Tracker 2WD, front wheel bearings are designed to provide correct pre-load when wheel bearing lock nut is tightened to 155 ft. lbs. (210 N.m). No further adjustment is required.
