Cylinder Head: Inspection

  1. Inspect cylinder head for warpage at cylinder block area and manifold surfaces. Replace cylinder head if warpage cannot be corrected using a surface plate and No. 400 grit sandpaper. See CYLINDER HEAD table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
  2. Inspect cylinder block deck surface for warpage. Resurface cylinder block if warpage exceeds specification. See CYLINDER BLOCK table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
CAUTION: Install cylinder head gasket with TOP facing away from cylinder block and positioned at crankshaft pulley end of cylinder block.
