Prizm (Gauge Reads "H" At All Times)

  1. Disconnect instrument panel cluster connector. Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal No. 4 (Base and LSi) or terminal No. 5 (GSi) and ground. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair open circuit in Brown ground wire between instrument panel cluster and ground.
  2. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, reconnect cluster connector and disconnect temperature sender connector. If gauge indicates "C", replace coolant temperature sender.
  3. If gauge indicates "H", disconnect instrument panel cluster connector. Connect an ohmmeter between coolant sender connector terminal and ground.
  4. If resistance is less than infinite, repair short to ground in Yellow/Green wire between instrument panel cluster and coolant temperature sender. If resistance is infinite, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks or poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace gauge.
