Metro (Gauge Reads "C" At All Times)

  1. Disconnect sending unit connector. Connect a fused jumper wire from coolant temperature sending unit connector terminal to ground. If gauge indicates "H", replace coolant temperature sending unit.
  2. If gauge indicates "C", disconnect 16-pin instrument panel cluster assembly connector. Connect an ohmmeter from connector terminal No. 6 to coolant temperature sending unit terminal. If resistance is more than .3 ohm, repair open circuit in Yellow/White wire between instrument panel cluster assembly and coolant temperature sending unit.
  3. If resistance is less than .3 ohm, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks and poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace gauge.
