Storm (Fuel Gauge Reads "F" At All Times)

  1. Disconnect fuel tank sender connector. If fuel gauge indicates "E", replace fuel tank sender.
  2. If fuel gauge indicates "F", disconnect 10-pin instrument cluster connector. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If less than infinite ohms are present, repair short to ground in junction block or Yellow/Red wire between instrument panel cluster and fuel tank sender.
  3. If infinite ohms are present, disconnect 8-pin instrument panel cluster connector. Connect an ohmmeter from connector terminal No. 8 (Brown/Red) to chassis ground. If more than .5 ohm is present, repair open in Brown/Red wire between instrument panel cluster and negative battery terminal.
  4. If less than .5 ohm is present, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks or poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge.
