Prizm (Fuel Gauge Reads "E" At All Times)
- Disconnect fuel gauge sender connector. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal No. 4 (Brown wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair open in Brown wire between fuel gauge sender and ground.
- If resistance is less than 3 ohms, connect a fused jumper wire between fuel gauge sender connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If fuel gauge indicates "F", replace fuel gauge sender.
- If fuel gauge indicates "E", use a fused jumper wire connected to ground to backprobe terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire) of 10-pin instrument panel cluster connector located behind left side of instrument panel. If fuel gauge indicates "F", repair open circuit in Yellow/Red wire between instrument panel cluster and fuel gauge sender. If fuel gauge continues to indicate "E", check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks or poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge.
