Metro (Fuel Gauge Reads "E" At All Times)
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector. Connect a fused jumper wire from connector cavity to chassis ground. If fuel gauge indicates "F", replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- If fuel gauge still indicates "E", disconnect 13-pin instrument panel cluster assembly connector located behind upper left corner of instrument panel cluster assembly. Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) and fuel gauge sending unit connector terminal.
- If resistance is more than .3 ohm, repair open in Yellow/Red wire between instrument panel cluster assembly and fuel gauge sending unit. If resistance is less than .3 ohm, check instrument panel cluster printed circuit for cracks and poor connections. If printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge.
