Thrust Bearing

Thrust bearing must be installed on main bearing with grooves toward crankshaft, away from cylinder block. Replace thrust bearing if crankshaft end play is not within specification. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
