Cylinder Head: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE in this article. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner assembly.
  2. Disconnect necessary electrical connections, coolant hoses, fuel lines and vacuum hoses from throttle body and intake manifold. Disconnect control cables from throttle body.
  3. Remove timing belt. See TIMING BELT in this article. Disconnect oxygen sensor lead (if necessary). Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove valve cover. Loosen cylinder head bolts evenly. Remove cylinder head and gasket.
