Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install cylinder head gasket with TOP mark facing away from cylinder block and toward crankshaft pulley side of cylinder block.
  2. Apply light coat of engine oil to threads and below head of cylinder head bolts before installation. Tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence. See Fig 1. Gradually tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill cooling system.
