UNDERSIZE Bearings

- Bearings are available in .010" (.25 mm) undersize. Undersized bearings are coded with 2 color marks and are available in 5 thickness variations. See Fig 1 .
- Using the finished diameter of the journal and letters stamped on mating surface of cylinder block, refer to COLOR CODE FOR UNDERSIZE BEARINGS table.
- For Sidekick, see UNDERSIZE BEARING APPLICATION CHART (SIDEKICK) . For Samurai and Swift, see Fig 2 . Select undersized bearing to be installed. Use Plastigage method to ensure correct clearance of installed undersize bearing.
- Lubricate bearings before installing. Tighten bolts to specification in 3 steps. Tighten main bearing caps in order of center, No. 2, No. 4, front and rear main caps. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table.
