Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Depressurize fuel system on EFI Turbo models. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain coolant and disconnect coolant hoses at intake manifold.
  2. On EFI Turbo models, remove surge tank together with throttle body.
  3. Disconnect warm air, fresh air, secondary air and vacuum hoses. Disconnect EGR modulator. Remove air cleaner assembly or intercooler on EFI Turbo models.
  4. On EFI Turbo models, disconnect fuel injector couplers and delivery pipes with injectors. On all models, disconnect throttle control cable and electrical leads. Remove emission control and fuel hoses. On models with carburetor, remove choke heater hoses.
  5. On all models, remove electrical leads and couplers at intake manifold. Remove emission control, coolant and brake booster hoses from intake manifold. Remove bolts and intake manifold from cylinder head.
