Oversize Bearing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Chevrolet Sprint. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. The following procedure is used to select an oversize bearing in the event that the crankshaft must be repaired or replaced. Regrind journal to finished diameter of 1.7612-1.7618" (44.734-44.75 mm).
  2. Measure reground journal with a micrometer. From measurement obtained and letters stamped on oil pan mating surface, select new oversize bearing.
NOTE: Oversize bearings are available in 5 sizes. Paint marks are applied for identification purposes. Each color indicates thickness at center of bearing.
