Bearing Selection

  1. Clean crankshaft journals and bearings to be installed. Using Plastigage method, check oil clearance. When installing rod caps, ensure that arrow on cap points to crankshaft pulley side.
  2. Install connecting rod with bearing on crankshaft journal. Tighten bolts to specifications. Using a feeler gauge, measure side clearance. If specifications are exceeded, replace connecting rod.
