Overdrive Solenoid

  1. Disconnect overdrive solenoid connector at transaxle. Connect solenoid to battery voltage and ground. Solenoid should operate and clicking should be heard. Connect ohmmeter between solenoid terminals and note reading. Resistance should be 11-15 ohms. Replace as necessary.
  2. Reconnect solenoid connector. Disconnect coolant temperature switch. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Operate overdrive switch. Solenoid should click when switch is turned to ON position. Turn ignition to OFF position. Reconnect coolant temperature switch. Replace solenoid as necessary.
