UNDERDRIVE Clutch & No. 3 One-Way Clutch: Disassembly

  1. Remove one-way clutch and thrust washer from under- drive clutch drum. Remove snap ring from underdrive clutch drum. See Figure. Remove flange, discs and plates from clutch drum. Note number and location of components. Using Spring Compressor (09351-32070) and press, compress return spring plate.
  2. Remove snap ring. Remove return spring and spring plate. Install oil seal rings to transaxle case (if necessary). Install underdrive clutch to transaxle case. Apply compressed air to oil passage in transaxle case to remove piston. See Figure. Remove "O" rings from piston.
