Front Planetary Gear: Disassembly

  1. Check No. 1 one-way clutch operation. Hold sun gear and turn hub. Hub should rotate freely clockwise and lock when turned counterclockwise. See Figure. Remove 2nd brake hub and No. 1 one-way clutch from sun gear.
  2. Remove thrust washer from sun gear input drum. Remove snap ring. Remove sun gear input drum. Remove shaft snap ring from sun gear. Remove one-way clutch retainer if clutch requires replacement. Remove one-way clutch from hub. See Figure.
