Forward Clutch: Disassembly

  1. Remove thrust washer. Remove thrust bearings and races from both sides of clutch. Remove clutch drum snap ring. Remove flange, discs and plates. Note number and location of components. See Figure. Using Clutch Spring Compressor (09351-32070) and press, compress spring retainer and return springs.
  2. Remove snap ring. Remove spring compressor, spring retainer and return springs. To remove piston from clutch drum, apply compressed air to oil passage (hole nearest piston) on rear of forward clutch shaft. Remove "O" rings from piston. If necessary, remove oil seal rings.
