Wheel Bearing: Removal

  1. Remove steering knuckle and hub assembly from vehicle. See HUB & KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY  . Place steering knuckle in vise. Remove dust deflector. See Fig 1 .

  2. Remove ball joint from steering knuckle (if not done already). Using Seal Puller (J-35413 ) and slide hammer, pull inner oil seal out of steering knuckle. Remove snap ring from steering knuckle hole.
  3. Remove bolts holding disc brake splash shield to steering knuckle. Using gear puller, push axle hub from steering knuckle. Remove disc brake dust cover. Press inside bearing race from axle hub. Pull outer oil seal from steering knuckle. Press hub bearing from knuckle.
