Description & Operation
MacPherson strut-type independent suspension is used. Upper end of strut is anchored to vehicle body by a strut support. Strut and strut support are isolated by a rubber mount. See Figure .
Lower end of strut is connected to upper end of steering knuckle. Lower end of steering knuckle is attached to the ball joint, which is attached to lower control arm. On Prizm GSi, a stabilizer bar is attached to lower control arm. On all models, steering movement is transmitted to tie rod end and then to steering knuckle, turning wheel and tire.
