Removal (Camry)

- Disconnect negative battery terminals. Remove battery, air cleaner assembly and throttle cable from engine. If vehicle is equipped with cruise control unit, disconnect connector from cruise control actuator.
- Disconnect ground cables to transaxle. Disconnect neutral start switch and speed sensor connectors. Remove starter motor. Disconnect and plug oil cooler hoses. Disconnect shift control cable. Remove 2 front side engine mounting bolts.
- Remove 2 bolts and clamp from front frame assembly. Remove 3 upper (near starter) transaxle-to-engine bolts. Suspend steering gear housing. Raise and support engine with jack stands. Remove front wheels. Remove exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and from rear exhaust pipe.
- Drain fluid from differential. Remove left and right side engine covers. Remove engine undercover. Remove axle shafts from transaxle. Remove 3 rear crossmember nuts. Remove 4 engine-to-transaxle mounting bolts. Disconnect stabilizer bar bracket from front frame assembly.NOTE: Remove Dark Green colored converter-to-flywheel bolts first.
- Remove steering gear housing mounting bolts. Remove front frame assembly. Hold transaxle with a jack. Remove transaxle-to-engine stiffener plate. Remove torque converter cover plate. Remove torque converter-to-flywheel Dark Green mounting bolts first. Remove remaining transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts. Lower and remove transaxle assembly from vehicle.
