Code 35 (Chart 1), Discriminating Sensor Open: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1991 Geo Storm, 1991 Geo Metro, 1990 Geo Storm, and 1990 Geo Metro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Code 35 is set when voltage at SENSE LOW input terminal No. A6 is 61-78 percent of 36VLR output voltage for 500 milliseconds during CONTINUOUS MONITORING tests performed by DERM. CONTINUOUS MONITORING tests are performed by DERM after initial TURN-ON tests are completed and every 100 milliseconds while IGNITION 1 voltage is present at DERM. If any discriminating sensor is open, voltage at SENSE LOW input will increase due to increase in resistance of discriminating sensor section of deployment loop, and Code 35 will set.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

Checks resistance of forward discriminating sensor.
