Code 26, Open In Steering Column: Description

If there is an open in wiring in steering column, SIR coil or inflator module, resistance between SENSE HI input (terminal No. A7) and SENSE LOW input (terminal No. A6) increases. This increased resistance causes a larger voltage drop from SENSE HI input to SENSE LOW input across 430-ohm resistor in resistor module. Increase in voltage between SENSE HI input and SENSE LOW input is sensed by DERM during CONTINUOUS MONITORING tests, and Code 26 is set.
