Disabling & Activating Air Bag System: Metro

  1. To disable SIR system, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove access cover at back of steering wheel to access Yellow 2-pin SIR connector. See Fig 1 . Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip on Yellow 2-pin connector at back of steering wheel. Disconnect Yellow 2-pin connector. Wait 10 minutes before working on vehicle.
  2. To activate SIR system, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect Yellow 2-pin connector and CPA clip at back of steering wheel. Connect negative battery cable. Install access cover at back of steering wheel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe INFLATABLE RESTRAINT indicator light. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
