Gauge Check

  1. Disconnect Yellow/Black wire connector of coolant temperature gauge sending unit. Sending unit is located at lower left of radiator. Connect test light between wire and ground. Turn ignition on. Test light should glow dimly and gauge pointer should fluctuate toward hot.
  2. If test light does glow but gauge pointer is inactive, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure all cluster electrical connections are disconnected. Connect ohmmeter leads between temperature gauge terminals No. 3 and 4 on back of instrument cluster. See Figure . Resistance reading should be 60 ohms.
  3. Connect ohmmeter leads between temperature gauge terminals No. 1 and 4 on back of instrument cluster. Resistance reading should be 206 ohms. If readings are not as specified, replace gauge.
