Reassembly (Prizm GSi)

Lubricate all rubber components with clean brake fluid. Install stopper pin into caliper housing until stopper pin extends 1.00" (25.4 mm). See Fig 1.

Install parking brake crank boot in caliper housing. Install parking brake crank into caliper housing. Install parking brake cable support bracket, and tighten to 34 ft. lbs. (46 N.m).
Measure clearance between parking brake crank and parking brake cable support bracket. If clearance is not .024" (.60 mm), replace parking brake crank and/or cable support bracket.
Install torsion spring. Install parking brake strut. See Fig 3. Ensure rollers of needle bearing are separated so rollers do not interfere with strut.
Install new "O" ring on adjusting bolt. Install stopper plate, spring and spring retainer on adjusting bolt, and finger-tighten. See Fig 4. Position inscribed surface of stopper plate upward. Align notches of spring retainer with notches of stopper plate.

Install adjusting bolt assembly into caliper housing. Install adjusting bolt snap ring into caliper housing. Face snap ring opening toward bleed screw.
Inspect adjusting bolt operation by moving parking brake crank by hand. Ensure adjusting bolt moves smoothly. Install piston seal on caliper housing bore.
Install piston in caliper bore by turning piston clockwise. Align center of piston stopper groove with positioning protrusion of cylinder. See Fig 5. Install piston boot and piston boot set ring in caliper housing. Install main pin boot. Install dust boot and sliding bushing.
