Horn Pad Switch: Storm

  1. Ensure fuse C-20 is okay by operating hazard flashers. Remove horn relay from relay box on right side of engine compartment. Using test light, ensure voltage exists at relay connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 (Green/Orange wires for both terminals).
  2. Connect ohmmeter between ground and relay connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Orange wire). Press steering wheel horn switch and note resistance. If resistance is less than 0.3 ohm, switch is okay. Replace horn relay.
  3. If resistance is more than 0.3 ohm, remove SIR module/center pad assembly from steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect ohmmeter between steering shaft (ground) and horn switch connector. Press horn switch and ensure continuity of switch circuit exists. Replace switch as required, or repair open in Black/Orange wiring circuit from horn switch to relay. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
