Removal & Installation (Storm)
- Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove left instrument switches panel, cigarette lighter panel and hood release panel. Remove lap air deflector and lower instrument panel/knee pad assembly.NOTE: Before removing SIR coil from combination switch, mark position of SIR coil to steering shaft for reassembly. Use extreme care when handling SIR coil.
- Remove steering column upper bracket mounting bolts and lower column. Remove both steering column covers. Mark SIR coil-to-steering shaft position for reassembly reference. Remove SIR coil-to-combination switch (turn signal/dimmer) screws. Remove SIR coil unit. Use extreme care when handling SIR coil. Remove combination switch-to-ignition switch/housing screws. Disconnect combination switch harness connector. Remove combination switch from column.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten steering column upper bracket mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m).
