Water Pump: Removal

  1. Drain cooling system. Raise and support vehicle. Remove nuts from rear mount at transaxle. Remove windshield washer reservoir and cruise control bracket with actuator attached.
  2. Remove through bolt from engine mount near timing belt cover. Raise engine slightly. Remove alternator and power steering pump drive belts. Remove water pump pulley.
  3. Disconnect coolant hoses at water pump coolant inlet pipe. Remove coolant inlet pipe and "O" ring from rear of water pump. Remove oil dipstick tube and plug hole in oil pump housing (if necessary).
  4. Remove upper and center timing belt cover. Remove water pump retaining bolts, water pump and "O" ring from cylinder block.
